Inspite of his 50 against Ireland in the first match, Rohit Sharma hasn’t looked comfortable. Unlike Virat Kohli, it’s not as if he threw away his wicket due to aggressive approach. It just doesn’t seem like he is in any rhythm.
Now going into the super 8 fixtures, Rohit has a challenge ahead of him, in the game against Afghanistan. Fazalhaq Farooqi (left handed new ball bowler) is in very good form in this tournament and the Indian top order has a bad reputation against left arm seamers against the new ball.
Rohit in particular has a very big problem against left arm seamers as he always gets himself in trouble against the in-swingers due to the lack of front foot movement.
On the other hand, Rohit also has a challenge to face if he goes past the powerplay and that is Afghanistan’s leg spinners in the likes of Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad.

In the last 3 years, Rohit has gotten out to leg spinners 7 times in the shortest format out of 13 innings and has an average of 10 which clearly indicates that he doesn’t like these match ups.
It’s time for Rohit to step up and prove the stats wrong as he did in the 50 over WC, last year.
