On saturday there was a great catch ever to see in T20 World Cup 2022 . It was in the 9th over when Marcus Stoinis was looking to put the pressure back on left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner after Australia had lost early wickets in pursuit of a massive total of 201. Stoinis played an inside-out shot in a bid to get a boundary through covers but Phillips foiled his plans with a stunning catch. Glenn Phillips’s catch was just a reflection of how switched on New Zealand were for their Super 12 opener against the defending champions. After Australia won the toss and opted to field, Finn Allen tore into the bowling unit, led by Josh Hazlewood.
Allen hit 42 from just 16 balls to give New Zealand a flying start and put the pressure straightaway on the Australians. Devon Conway carried on from there, hitting a 58-ball 92 not out in a controlled knock.
James Neesham gave New Zealand innings the late imptus as he hit 26 from just 13 balls to help the BlackCaps post 200 on the board in their quota of 20 overs.
Santner was effective with the ball for New Zealand as he picked up 3 wickets while Tim Southee picked up the crucial wickets of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh.
