Wasim Jaffer criticizes Shubman Gill’s defensive batting, backs Yashasvi Jaiswal to fire in 4th T20I 

Wasim Jaffer weighed in on the upcoming clash between India and West Indies in the fourth T20I match at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Florida on August 12. Jaffer highlighted the importance of a strong start during the powerplay for the openers, who have not fired so far in the series.

He said, “We’ve talked about how crucial it is for the openers to get off to a good start in the powerplay and provide a solid platform for players like Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma. But they won’t be concerned since they will understand the importance of showing intent right away.”

Shubman Gill is a defensive batter, whereas Jaiswal bats aggressively. He believed that these two young players could make a difference in the forthcoming game.

“Jaiswal will bat aggressively, and I believe Shubman Gill is being overly defensive. If he gets a couple of nice shots right at the start, it might make a big difference,” Jaffer added.

As the series stands at 2-1 in favor of West Indies, the fourth game becomes a crucial battleground for Hardik Pandya and his team. A win here gives them a chance to stay alive in the series.
