Virender Sehwag highlights the special quality of Rashid Khan

Virender Sehwag, the former Indian opening batsman, praised the batting prowess of Rashid Khan, who played a gem of an innings for Gujarat Titans in the opening encounter of the IPL.

According to Sehwag, Rashid Khan exhibits a calm and composed attitude while batting without putting undue pressure on himself. Recently, Gujarat Titans emerged victorious against Chennai Super Kings by five wickets at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, kickstarting their IPL 2023 campaign on a high note.

In the opening match of the Indian Premier League 2023 season, Gujarat Titans secured a five-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. One of the standout performances of the match was delivered by Rashid Khan, the spin bowler who played a crucial role in securing the win for his team.

During the match against CSK, Rashid showcased his batting prowess, scoring 10 runs off just three balls in the penultimate over. At this point, GT required 23 runs to win, and Rashid’s contribution proved crucial to securing the victory. Sehwag said that if Rashid had lost his wicket in that over, the match’s outcome could have been very different.

“Rashid Khan’s main strength is that he does not overwork himself during batting. His attitude is always to score those key goals and assist his side in winning. Gujarat may have lost the game if he had been removed since the burden is usually on the batting side while chasing 15-16 in the last over,” said Sehwag.

Virender Sehwag has suggested that Gujarat Titans should improve their left-hand-right-hand batting combination. According to him, the return of David Miller to the team’s middle order should help resolve this issue. He added that the Gujarat Titans would be pleased with their opening win, and Rashid’s contribution with the bat and ball will give them confidence heading into the rest of the season.
