Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif has underscored the pivotal role of Jasprit Bumrah in India’s quest to clinch the World Cup title on home soil. Amid India’s recent losses in the West Indies series, Kaif emphasized that the team’s competitive spirit should not be underestimated. He noted that the absence of Bumrah was a significant factor in these matches.
Kaif, while acknowledging the concern over the losses, stated, “India has only lost two matches, so we should not be too alarmed.”
“I’m seeing a lot of negative reactions in the aftermath of the two losses. But I’ll just say that our team is fiercely competitive. I’m not going to pass judgment on (India) based on two consecutive losses in the West Indies. The only thing is that key players are missing,” Kaif said.
Instead of judging the team solely based on these isolated losses, Kaif directs attention to the larger picture and highlights the significance of Bumrah’s absence during this period.
He said, “The absence of Bumrah is the most significant aspect. If he fully recovers, Team India will benefit greatly. We have a fantastic chance of winning the World Cup at home,” the former batter concluded.
