IND vs NZ 2nd T20I – 3 Records that can be broken today

India plays New Zealand in the 2nd T20I in a few hours. India will be looking to wrap up the series with a win, while T20 World Cup finalists New Zealand will be looking to win and take the series to a decider.

Who will win the 2nd T20I?

Both teams will be looking to improve upon their bowling and lower middle order batting. Ranchi will be set for a blockbuster, with the bonus of MS Dhoni expected to be around.

Apart from the high stakes for the match, there will be multiple players looking to set and break records of their own. Here’s looking at 3 different records that could be potentially broken in the upcoming match.

Ravichandran Ashwin needs 3 wickets for a major milestone

Ashwin is in supreme form for India. He was the most economical bowler for India in the T20 World Cup and was also the pick of the bowlers in the 1st match. He is currently on 60 wickets and needs to pick up 4 wickets to cross Yuzvendra Chahal’s haul of 63 wickets. He will be the 2nd highest wicket-taker of India in T20 Internationals, only behind Bumrah’s 66 wickets.

Martin Guptil’s race to overtake Virat Kohli

Guptil played an incredible knock in the first match. He scored 70 of just 42 balls, as he scored his first ever half-century against India. He needs 61 runs in the 2nd match against India to overtake Virat Kohli’s 3227 runs and become the leading run-scorer in T20 Internationals. Can Guptil reach the landmark and become the most prolific batsman in T20Is?

Rohit Sharma’s 50+ Scores

Rohit Sharma scored 48 in the 1st match, missing out on this milestone. He is currently on 28 50+ scores in T20 Internationals, just one behind Virat Kohli’s count of 29 50+ scores. If Rohit Sharma scores 50 or more in the 2nd match, he will equal Kohli’s record and hold the joint highest record for most 50+ scores in T20Is.

Which of these records do you think is the most in danger? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
