Cheteshwar Pujara is backing Ajinkya Rahane to come good in a two-match Test series against New Zealand. The veteran was speaking to reporters before the first Test between India New Zealand in Kanpur.
Ajinkya Rahane will be leading India in Virat Kohli’s absence. The right-handed batter has struggled to score runs in the last few series leading to massive criticism. Former cricketers have questioned Rahane’s place in the squad.
Pujara believes Rahane is one innings away from coming back to form in Test cricket.
“Ajinkya Rahane is a great player. There are certain times when a player goes through these periods. He is just one innings away from get the rhythm back. He is in good touch and he will get good runs in the series,” said Pujara.
