Ravindra Jadeja has shared his insights regarding the intense rivalry between India and Pakistan as they gear up for the Asia Cup 2023. Reflecting on the 2022 Asia Cup, where India experienced both victory and defeat against Pakistan, Jadeja sheds light on the significance of the upcoming encounter between the two cricketing powerhouses.
In a pre-tournament promotional interview with Star Sports, Jadeja acknowledges the lofty expectations that accompany any India-Pakistan match. “While expectations are always sky-high when India plays Pakistan, it’s important to note that every match involving India holds a similar level of importance for us,” he remarked. “However, there is no doubt that the India-Pakistan match garners more attention, motivating us to excel and give our all on the pitch.”
Recalling the previous Asia Cup held in the UAE, Jadeja points out that both teams secured one victory each from the two encounters. Pakistan’s triumph over India paved the way to the final of the 2022 tournament, where they eventually fell to Sri Lanka.
“Our focus remains on delivering our best performance and aiming for perfection. However, because the game is unpredictable, the results may not always match our intentions. Cricket is a sport in which both teams take pride in representing their own countries. While we devote ourselves fully and play with the intent to win, it’s important to recognize that there is no certainty in a specific result,” he said.
“Our ultimate goal is to put forth our best effort and play with determination to win.” However, if things do not unfold in our favour, we must acknowledge that certain aspects are beyond our control. ” Jadeja concluded.
