How SKY made a slow surface look like flat pitch?

Surya Kumar Yadav (SKY) played a brilliant knock against Afghanistan which played a huge role in India’s victory.

Many might think that it was Afghanistan and India was always going to win but, no! Afghanistan are a really good team especially in the shortest format. Any match they win against big nations can no more be considered an upset.

The pitch was actually on the slower side and it was evident in the way Rohit and Kohli found it difficult to get going even in the powerplay. SKY on the other hand looked fluent right from the start.

One important point to note in this innings is that SKY wasn’t trying to play any 360° shots and was playing proper cricketing shots. Lately, he was focusing on relying majorly on 360° shots for his runs and wasn’t consistent in scoring runs. But in the game against Afghanistan, he understood the nature of the surface and realised that he won’t have the pace from the pitch to support his 360° shots and that needs to play conventional shots to score runs there.

Nothing silly, played the field, made the bowler do the mistakes and once again proved that why he is rated as the no.1 T20 batter in India.
