The three-match ODI series between India and South Africa came to an end today as India won the third and final match by seven wickets. In the final match played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India easily won the match and defeated South Africa in the home ODI series after 12 years. It was a very easy victory for India, as South Africa could only score 99 runs in this match.
In response to South Africa’s 99 runs, India reached the target in 19.1 overs for the loss of only three wickets. Shubman Gill scored the highest 49 runs for India. Along with Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer contributed well with the bat as well. Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets in the bowling for India and once again gave a great performance. Apart from Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed and Mohammad Siraj also bowled very well.
In this match, David Miller captained South Africa and South Africa became the first team in ODI history to field three different captains in the three-match ODI series. After Temba bavuma in the first match and Keshav Maharaj in the second match, David Miller took charge of South Africa in the third match.
Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan won the toss in this match and decided to bowl first and the Indian bowlers proved his decision absolutely right. In the beginning, South Africa’s batsmen succumbed to the tremendous bowling of Siraj and Washington Sundar and after that, the South African batsmen could not do anything in front of Kuldeep Yadav’s spin magic and the entire team of South Africa was all out for just 99 runs. After losing the first match by 9 runs in Lucknow, India made a tremendous comeback in this series by winning the second and third ODI matches.
