T20 World Cup : A outstanding one hand catch taken by Virat kholi in warm-up match

Mohammed Shami might have won India the match with his excellent death bowling, but it was Virat Kohli, the fielder who scripted a turnaround for India during their warm-up match against Australia at the Gabba on Monday.

In the penultimate over, Kohli’s direct hit sent Tim David Back. In the third ball of the final over, Kohli plucked a stunning one-handed catch out of thin air at the boundary line to dismiss Pat Cummins.

Kohli’s jaw-dropping catch left not only Pat Cummins but the entire Australian dressing room was in disbelief.

With the bat, Kohli scored a nice little cameo. The six over the long off against Ashton Agar was probably the shot of the match. But he was bounced out by Mitchell Starc, when he was looking set for a good knock. He landed yorker after yorker and ended up with three wickets in the over besides a run out. Shami was drafted into the squad as a replacement for the injured Jasprit Bumrah.

India beat defending champions Australia by six runs on Monday in their first warm up match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Brisbane, and one of the highlights of the day was the brilliant fielding of Virat Kohli. Kohli showed his athleticism twice in the dying minutes of the game – first with a direct throw to run out Tim David in the penultimate over, and then with a one-handed blinder of a catch in the deep to send back Pat Cummins in the final over.

The run-out of big-hitter Tim David was in the 19th over bowled by Harshal Patel. Tim David was desperately trying to get on strike with Australia still a few blows away from India’s challenging total of 186/7.

But Kohli at short midwicket ran in and dived and picked up the ball and in the same action threw at the stumps at the striker’s end to run David out,  at last India won the match.
