Prithvi Shaw’s medical scans have unveiled a Grade 2 PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) injury. While Grade 2 injuries are not the most promising, they certainly fare better than the more severe Grade 3.
A reliable source familiar with the situation shared this information, shedding light on the batter’s injury status.
Prithvi Shaw has experienced a rollercoaster season marked by numerous highs and lows. He has encountered difficulties in regaining his top form throughout a significant portion of the season.
Consequently, he has found himself subjected to intense scrutiny from both fans and analysts. Despite glimpses of excellence demonstrated during his participation in the County Championship, his performance was curtailed due to an unfortunate injury.
The setback occurred during Shaw’s tenure with Northamptonshire, leading to the discovery of Grade 2 Posterior Cruciate Ligament damage through diagnostic scans. As a consequence of this injury, Shaw’s participation in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy is in jeopardy.
Presently in the United Kingdom, the 23-year-old athlete is undergoing treatment for his ailment. Encouragingly, several reports have hinted at a potential earlier return to the field than initially expected.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is closely monitoring Shaw’s recovery progress and envisions his eventual return to the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Despite this, Shaw will remain in the United Kingdom for a while where he continues to receive medical attention.
“The scans revealed that the injury is a Grade 2 PCL tear. Grade 2 is less encouraging, although it is still better than Grade 3. Things were not looking good for Prithvi at first, but a Grade 2 injury and the absence of surgery means he should be back on the pitch shortly. We anticipated he’d return to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) or his house in Mumbai, but he’ll be in the UK for a while,” a source familiar with the situation said.
